  • We collect information you choose to send us, such as your email address, newsletter sign-up, comment, form submission, or message.
  • The Site may collect technical information automatically, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, referring pages, approximate location from IP address, and cookie data.
  • We use this information to operate the Site, respond to you, send emails you asked to receive, improve our guides, measure traffic through Google Analytics, protect the Site, support affiliate links, and support advertising if ads are enabled.
  • We do not sell your personal information for money. Some advertising, analytics, affiliate, or embedded content activity may be considered a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under certain privacy laws. You can contact us to make a privacy request.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Information We Collect

We collect information in three main ways: information you provide, information collected automatically, and information connected to third-party tools or links you choose to use.

Information You Provide

Depending on how you use the Site, you may provide:

  • Contact information: your name, email address, and any information you include when you email us or submit a form.
  • Newsletter information: your email address, name if requested, sign-up source, subscription preferences, and email engagement information such as opens or clicks, depending on the email tool used.
  • Comment information: if comments are enabled, the name, email address, website, comment text, IP address, and browser user agent submitted through the comment form.
  • Message content: the contents of messages, attachments, feedback, corrections, privacy requests, collaboration inquiries, and similar communications you send us.
  • Purchases or support: if we offer digital products, memberships, paid guides, Patreon benefits, or similar offerings in the future, we may collect information needed to provide what you requested. Payment details are usually processed by third-party payment providers, not stored directly by us.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, we or our service providers may automatically collect:

  • Log and device data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, date and time of access, pages viewed, referring pages, exit pages, and similar technical data.
  • Approximate location: general location inferred from your IP address, such as country, state, region, or city. We do not ask for precise location through the Site unless a feature clearly tells you that it needs it.
  • Usage data: how visitors move through the Site, including clicks, page views, search terms used on the Site, scroll behavior, engagement events, referral sources, and other interaction data. We use Google Analytics to help measure this activity.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: small files or identifiers that help the Site work, remember preferences, measure traffic, support embedded content, support affiliate tracking, and support advertising if ads are enabled.

Information From Third Parties

We may receive limited information from third-party services you use to interact with us, such as newsletter tools, analytics tools, affiliate programs, social platforms, video platforms, spam prevention services, security tools, payment processors, or hosting providers. The exact information depends on the service and your settings with that service.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to operate the Site and make it more useful for travelers and viewers. Specifically, we may use information to:

  • Provide, operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Site.
  • Publish and organize travel guides, cruise reviews, land travel guides, port day notes, theme park coverage, Replicate Kitchen content, and Replicate Workshop content.
  • Respond to emails, questions, feedback, corrections, privacy requests, partnership inquiries, and support requests.
  • Send newsletters, guide updates, content alerts, or other emails you asked to receive.
  • Measure which pages, guides, videos, search paths, referral sources, and topics are useful through Google Analytics and similar tools, so we can improve future content.
  • Remember preferences, improve performance, and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Moderate comments, prevent spam, detect fraud, protect the Site, and address security issues.
  • Track affiliate referrals, if you click an affiliate link.
  • Serve, personalize, or measure ads, if advertising is enabled on the Site.
  • Comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms and policies, and protect our rights, safety, and the rights and safety of others.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. This helps us see which travel guides, cruise reviews, land travel pages, Replicate Kitchen posts, Replicate Workshop posts, and site navigation paths are useful, where pages may need improvement, and how visitors find the Site.

Google Analytics may collect information such as first-party cookies, device and browser information, pages visited, referral sources, approximate location, on-site interactions, and events such as page views or link clicks. Google states that Google Analytics uses identifiers such as cookies to measure user interaction and that Google Analytics customers are prohibited from sending personally identifiable information to Google Analytics. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, message contents, or other directly identifying information to Google Analytics.

Google Analytics may process information in the United States and other locations where Google or its service providers operate. Google provides privacy and data controls for Google Analytics, including data retention settings and controls related to advertising personalization when those features are used.

You can control or limit Google Analytics in several ways. You can block or delete cookies through your browser, use any cookie preference tool available on the Site, use browser privacy settings or extensions, or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can also learn more about how Google uses information from sites and apps that use Google services at Google’s partner sites page.

Advertising, Google, and Interest-Based Ads

The Site may display ads directly, through Google AdSense, or through other advertising partners. If ads are enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other websites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and other sites on the Internet. Google and other advertising partners may also use information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and ad interactions to serve, personalize, measure, and improve ads.

You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google My Ad Center. You can also learn more about how Google uses information from sites and apps that use Google services at Google’s partner sites page, and you can learn more about Google’s advertising technologies at Google’s advertising privacy page.

If third-party ad networks or vendors are used on the Site, their cookies or similar technologies may also be used to serve ads. You may be able to opt out of some participating companies’ personalized advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance choice tool, the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out tool, or other regional tools where available.

Affiliate Links and Sponsored Content

Some pages may include affiliate links. If you buy through those links, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. When you click an affiliate link, the affiliate partner or network may receive information needed to track the referral, such as the page you came from, the link clicked, your browser information, and whether a purchase or other qualifying action happened.

Affiliate links do not decide what we recommend, what we criticize, or what we would change. If content is sponsored, hosted, gifted, discounted, affiliate-linked, or otherwise materially connected to a partner, we disclose that connection in the relevant content.

Embedded Content and Third-Party Links

The Site may include embedded content or links to third-party websites, tools, and platforms. This may include YouTube videos, maps, social posts, booking tools, Patreon, payment processors, affiliate partners, cruise lines, hotels, restaurants, tour operators, retailers, and other services.

Embedded content can behave as if you visited the third-party website directly. Those third parties may collect information about you, use cookies, embed additional tracking, monitor your interaction with the embedded content, and combine that activity with information they already have if you are logged into their service.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, platforms, or services. Review their privacy policies before sharing information with them.

How We Share Information

We may share information in the following situations:

  • Service providers: with companies that help us operate the Site, such as website hosting, security, analytics, email delivery, forms, spam prevention, advertising, affiliate tracking, payments, and technical support.
  • Advertising and analytics partners: if enabled, with partners that help measure traffic, serve ads, personalize ads, prevent ad fraud, and report performance.
  • Affiliate partners: when you click an affiliate link or take an action through an affiliate partner.
  • Public areas: if you comment or submit something for public display, the information you choose to post may be visible to others.
  • Legal and safety: if we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or a valid government request, or if disclosure is needed to protect rights, safety, security, or prevent fraud or abuse.
  • Business transfers: if Replicate the Magic or Kiozu, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction.
  • With your direction: if you ask us to share information, connect you with a partner, forward a request, or use a feature that requires sharing.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some advertising, analytics, affiliate, or embedded content activity may be considered a sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or cross-context behavioral advertising under certain privacy laws. See the Your Privacy Choices section below for request options.

Newsletter and Email

If you sign up for the Replicate the Magic newsletter or another email list, we use your email address to send travel guides, new content updates, planning notes, Replicate Kitchen updates, Replicate Workshop updates, and occasional information about products, partnerships, or resources we think may be useful.

Email tools may collect information such as whether an email was delivered, opened, clicked, bounced, or marked as spam. We use that information to understand whether the newsletter is useful and to improve what we send.

You can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us at [email protected]. We may still send non-marketing messages when needed, such as responses to your email, privacy request confirmations, transaction information, or important notices about the Site.

Comments and User Submissions

If comments are enabled, we may collect the information shown in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata may be retained so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments.

If we use a profile image service such as Gravatar, an anonymized string created from your email address may be provided to that service to see if you are using it. If your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information in comments, public forms, or other public areas of the Site.

How Long We Keep Information

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is required or allowed by law. Retention depends on the type of information and why it was collected.

  • Newsletter information is usually kept until you unsubscribe, request deletion, or the list is no longer active.
  • Contact messages may be kept as long as needed to respond, maintain business records, resolve disputes, or document requests.
  • Comments may be kept while the related page remains published, unless removed earlier.
  • Security logs and technical records may be kept as needed to protect the Site and diagnose issues.
  • Analytics, advertising, affiliate, and payment information may be retained according to the settings and policies of the relevant service providers.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No website, email system, or Internet transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

If you believe information you sent us has been compromised, contact us at [email protected].

Your Privacy Choices

You can make privacy requests by emailing [email protected]. Please use a clear subject line, such as “Privacy Request,” “California Privacy Request,” or “Data Protection Request.” We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

  • Access or know: you may ask what personal information we have collected about you, subject to applicable law and verification.
  • Correct: you may ask us to correct inaccurate personal information, subject to applicable law.
  • Delete: you may ask us to delete personal information, subject to exceptions such as security, legal, operational, or transaction-related needs.
  • Opt out of marketing emails: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or contact us.
  • Opt out of certain analytics or advertising activity: use available cookie controls, browser settings, the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, Google My Ad Center, or the advertising industry opt-out tools linked above.
  • Limit or object: depending on where you live, you may have the right to restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Authorized agent: where allowed by law, you may use an authorized agent to make a request. We may ask for proof that the agent is authorized to act for you.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights that apply to you.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, California law may give you specific rights regarding personal information. These rights may include the right to know what personal information is collected, used, disclosed, sold, or shared, the right to request deletion, the right to request correction, the right to opt out of sale or sharing, the right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

We do not sell personal information for money. If advertising, analytics, affiliate, or embedded content activity on the Site is considered a “sale” or “sharing” under California law, you may request to opt out by emailing [email protected] with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share.” If the Site displays a cookie preference tool, you may also use that tool to manage available choices.

We do not intentionally use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your request.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Similar Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar data protection laws, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of certain personal data. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Where those laws apply, our legal bases for processing may include consent, performance of a contract or requested service, legitimate interests such as operating and improving the Site, legal obligations, and protection of rights and security.

Replicate the Magic is operated from the United States. If you use the Site from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate. Those locations may have privacy laws that are different from the laws where you live.

To make a data protection request, email [email protected] with the subject line “Data Protection Request.”

Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the Site, contact us at [email protected], and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control, and Browser Signals

Some browsers and extensions send “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals. The Site may not respond to all browser signals in the same way because there is not one uniform technical standard that applies to every signal and every service provider. Where required by applicable law, and where technically supported by the tools we use, we will honor opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice where appropriate, such as a notice on the Site or by email if you are subscribed.
