What we are making

Crisp churros with tender centers… rolled in red and green sparkle… peppermint crunch… gingerbread sugar… plus a few new flavors we dreamed up. Do a platter of minis so everyone can sample more than one.

Gear checklist

Sheet pan with rack… oven or air fryer… mixing bowls… shallow trays for sugars… small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl for melts… piping bag or zip-top bags for drizzles… tongs… parchment.

Quick prep

  1. Bake or air-fry Tio Pepe’s churros according to the package until hot and crisp.
  2. While they heat, set up a coating station… one wide bowl per flavor.
  3. Work in small batches so churros stay warm… coatings stick best when the surface is hot.

Holiday finishes

Classic Cinnamon Sugar

  • 1 cup sugar… 1 tbsp cinnamon.
Toss churros while hot for even coverage.

Red and Green Sparkle

  • Sanding sugars in red and green.
DIY option… shake white sugar with a tiny drop of gel color in a jar… spread to dry… break up clumps.

Peppermint Crunch

  • ½ cup sugar… ¼ cup finely crushed candy canes.
Optional drizzle… melted white chocolate with a drop of peppermint extract.

Gingerbread Sugar

  • ½ cup sugar… 1 tsp cinnamon… ½ tsp ginger… a pinch of nutmeg and clove.
So cozy… perfect with hot cocoa.

Hot Cocoa Churros

  • ½ cup sugar… 2 tbsp cocoa powder… tiny pinch of salt.
Dip in warm chocolate sauce for the full effect.

Eggnog Glaze

  • Whisk 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 to 3 tbsp eggnog and a pinch of nutmeg until pourable.
Dip tops or zigzag a drizzle.

Maple Pecan

  • Toss warm churros in real maple syrup… finish with chopped toasted pecans.
    Sweet… sticky… crunchy.

Pro tips

  • Coat immediately… sugars and glazes grab best on hot churros.
  • For extra sparkle… roll once in plain sugar to dry the surface… then roll in your flavored sugar.
  • Keep finished churros on a rack in a 200 °F oven so they stay crisp while you finish the next batch.
  • Serving kids… set out paper cones or mugs so hands stay clean at the party.

Make ahead and storage

Mix sugars and crush candies earlier in the day… cover until needed. Glazes hold an hour or two… whisk and thin with a few drops of milk or eggnog if they tighten up. Leftover churros re-crisp in a 375 °F oven for a few minutes.
