Fried chicken copycats can aim at very different things: the seasoning on a familiar bucket of chicken, a rough crunchy crust, a pickle-topped sandwich, or a cheese-coated snack. Decide which detail matters before picking a recipe. Otherwise, it is easy to judge a crunchy version against a texture it never set out to copy.
This list includes two approaches to KFC-style chicken, a coleslaw side, a Chick-fil-A-style sandwich, and Cheetos-coated chicken fries. The developers get the credit, and their free pages hold the full recipes. Replicate Kitchen has not run a side-by-side test of these versions.
For a first dinner, choose one chicken recipe and one side. Cooking several fried dishes at once creates more last-minute work than a list of ingredient names suggests.
1KFC-style original fried chicken

Recipe by Sabrina Snyder at Dinner, then Dessert
Sabrina Snyder’s KFC-inspired chicken, not a confirmed secret formula.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 tablespoon salt
- 1/2 tablespoon dried thyme leaves
- 1/2 tablespoon dried basil leaves
- 1/3 tablespoon dried oregano leaves
- 1 tablespoon celery salt
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon dried mustard
- 3 tablespoons paprika , (original recipe calls for 4 tablespoons)
- 2 tablespoons garlic salt
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 3 tablespoons ground white pepper
- 2 teaspoons Accent Seasoning, optional
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1 chicken , cut into 10 pieces (2 wings, 2 legs, 2 thighs and 2 breasts each cut in half to make 4 breast pieces)
- vegetable oil for frying
The seasoning target and the final crust are separate things to notice. If you compare this with another version, write down your observations about each instead of giving one overall similarity score.

- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Peanut oil, for frying
- 1 large egg

- 1/4 cup whole-wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon malted milk powder

This is a separate snack project, not an extra side to squeeze in while cooking another fried main. The source’s shaping and cooking directions matter more than an ingredient list suggests.

Choose the chicken, then build the meal
For a bucket-style dinner, choose one of the first two recipes and add the coleslaw. For a sandwich meal, skip the bone-in chicken and focus on buns, pickles, and having the sides ready when the sandwiches are assembled.
Read the developer’s marinating and resting times as well as the active cooking time. A recipe that spends the night in the refrigerator is a different commitment from one you can begin after work.
Follow current food-handling guidance, use a food thermometer, and treat the source’s full directions as essential reading. Use the ingredient lists here to plan your shopping, then read the complete source method before cooking.
