We’re Back From Europe: A Few Favorites and New Videos Coming Soon

We’re back from Europe with a few food favorites and eight videos on the way. Preview our London, Paris, Europa-Park, Giverny, and Reims series, then subscribe to follow along.

We’re back from Europe, and our full trip videos are coming soon. Our September trip took us through London and Paris, to Europa-Park in Germany, and out to Giverny and Reims. Along the way, we found a Paris bouillon we both put first, stopped for a roast dinner wrapped in Yorkshire pudding, and brought home eight tubs of Haribo.

We’re turning the trip into three main episodes, followed by five videos that take a closer look at individual stops. Before the series arrives, here are a few of our favorites and a preview of what you’ll be able to watch.

A few favorites from the trip

A beef Yorkshire Burrito at Camden Market

At Camden Market in London, we tried the beef Yorkshire Burrito, a roast dinner wrapped in Yorkshire pudding. It was delicious. Our London episode will bring that food stop into the story alongside the neighborhoods and theater.

Bouillon Pigalle in Paris

We tried four Paris bouillons, and Bouillon Pigalle was the overall favorite for both of us. Beau especially liked its brighter, fresher, more contemporary feel. Our full comparison will put Pigalle alongside Chartier, Julien, and République, looking at the food, atmosphere, pace, and how the experience felt at the table.

Going back to L’Istanbul in Reims

Reims brought Beau back to a city where he once lived, including a return to L’Istanbul, a kebab shop he used to visit. We liked it enough to go back a second time on this trip. That familiar food stop has its place in the story alongside the city’s sights and our Champagne visit.

Haribo World Mix from a Paris supermarket

One of our favorite souvenirs came from a supermarket. We found Haribo World Mix in Paris and brought home eight tubs. It’s our favorite Haribo mix, which explains why candy made it onto this list alongside full meals.

The videos will also take you inside the Harry Potter Studio Tour, through a full day at Europa-Park, and out to Monet’s house and gardens. Here’s how those stops fit into the series.

Three episodes following the whole trip

The main series will follow the trip in order, so you can see how the days and destinations fit together.

1. London

The first episode starts with the overnight flight and our London days. Expect Camden, food stops, neighborhoods, theater impressions, and a preview of the Harry Potter Studio Tour. We’ll take you through the beginning of the trip before heading to St. Pancras to continue to France.

2. Eurostar, Paris, and Europa-Park

Next, we take the Eurostar to Paris for Montmartre, bouillons, and walks along the Canal Saint-Martin and the Seine. Then we get back on the trains for Germany and one full day at Europa-Park.

3. Back to Paris, Giverny, Reims, and Home

The third episode brings us back from Germany for the final stretch: more time in Paris, Monet’s house and gardens in Giverny, and a visit to Reims before the journey home.

Five closer looks to follow

After the three trip episodes, we’ll give five experiences their own videos. These will leave more room for the details that matter when you’re deciding what to include in a trip of your own.

Harry Potter Studio Tour London

This was Beau’s first visit and a return visit for Sean. We’ll look at the sets, props, and practical effects, from the Great Hall and Hogwarts Express to Gringotts and the Hogwarts model. We’ll also cover how the visit fits into a London day, with room for both of our perspectives.

Europa-Park in One Day

Eighteen years after Beau’s first visit, we had one full day at Europa-Park, with Sean seeing it for the first time. The video will look at what we fit in and the travel involved in reaching the park from Paris without a car.

Paris to Monet’s Garden Without a Tour

We traveled independently from Paris through Vernon to Giverny. This video will follow that route into Monet’s house and gardens, including the water garden, green Japanese bridge, and flower paths. The transport connections are part of the story, too.

Veuve Clicquot and a Full Day in Reims

Our Champagne visit gets a closer look within the whole Reims day. We’ll bring together Veuve Clicquot, the other stops around the city, and Beau’s return to a place he once lived.

Four Paris Bouillons: Which Should You Choose?

Pigalle, Chartier, Julien, and République each get time in this comparison. We’ll look at the food, atmosphere, service pace, space at the table, getting a table, and price. You already know our shared overall favorite; the full video will explain more about the choices behind it.
